Use a pad driver when interchangeable pad grades and broad contact on smoother floors are valuable. Use a compatible scrub brush when bristles need to reach texture, joints or irregular surfaces. Neither is universally more aggressive or effective.
How contact differs
A pad presents a relatively continuous face and is useful on smooth resilient floors and many finish-maintenance tasks. A brush concentrates contact through bristle tips and can enter low points.
On a deeply textured surface, a pad may ride across peaks. On a delicate smooth finish, a stiff brush may leave visible change.
